Guidance Counselor’s role
      Promoting positive self-esteem and attitudes throughout the student body
Aiding teachers and parents in helping students achieve their highest potential
Assisting students with concerns and issues that are related to the natural  process of “growing up!”
Coordinating the efforts of other school specialists such as teachers, school psychologists, etc.
Providing a safe environment for students where they can express their concerns
Classroom instruction on self-esteem, goal setting, anger mgt, stress, bullying etc…..
  

Individual Counseling

If you would like to meet with your counselor individually please stop by their office and leave a note on their desk or in the basket hanging by their door.  Your counselor can help you with the following issues:
  • problems with friends/peers
  • personal crisis (ie.-death in family)
  • problems with parents or siblings           
  • peer acceptance
  • decision making
  • conflict resolution
  • strategies for dealing with harassment

Group Counseling

  1. General Support Group-Group is open to any student who wants to discuss isuues such as, family, stress, relationships, peer pressure, bullying, coping strategies, and etc...
  2. Concerned Persons Group- Group is for anyone who has concerns about drug/alcohol abuse within one's family or friends.
  3. Family Transition Group- group is for anyone whose parents have gone through divource, remarried, or living apart. Members will learn how to cope with the feeling and the changes that come with any type of family transition.
  4. Grief-Sharing Group- Group is for anyone who has lost a loved one. The group shares experiences with each other and ways to cope with the loss.

Academic Assistance

The Guidance Office provides a number of support services to help students achieve academic success.
  • Peer Tutoring Room- Monday-Thursday during EAGLE period
  • Make referrals for tutoring or other academic assistance
  • Offer study tips
  • Intervention Assistance Team
  • Homework Help Club (for 6th graders)
