At Bell Creek Intermediate, we love our military families! Each year we have approximately 30 military families in all stages of the relocation process. Our military families are a great asset to our school and we’re happy to serve you! Here are a few of the services we offer:
New Student Orientation Program
Mrs. Anderson, school counselor, assists new students and their families with their transition to a new school and community.
New Student Orientation Meeting- on the day before school begins, orientation meetings are held in the school cafeteria for students and parents. In these meetings, we’ll give you the information that you need to put you in the know about Bell Creek, take a tour of the building, and give you a chance to ask questions. Students will be able to meet their teacher and other new students!
New Student Lunch Groups- Mrs. Anderson will invite new students to have lunch with her once a week for about four weeks. Meeting together will help your new students continue to get to know the other new students, give them a chance to ask questions that come up, and enhance their transition into Bell Creek Intermediate.
Military Kids’ Groups
Mrs. Anderson invites military kids to meet with her once a month in grade level groups. The purpose of these groups is to allow students with a parent in the military a chance to connect with other students who have experienced similar circumstances and have experienced similar feelings. We discuss topics relevant to military kids and do fun activities and play games. Our hope is that our groups will assist the students involved in feeling supported at school.
Ongoing Support with Transitions, Deployments, and Relocations
Each year our military kids’ groups are in flux- new students arriving and some students moving on to the next assignment. We work as a group to support each other in any circumstance that comes up. Sometimes the best people to offer encouragement and support are the other military kids!
