Recommended Summer Assignments

Each assignment below involves review of a specific chapter of the Algebra 2 book, followed by a Chapter Assessment. All assessments will be analyzed by your teacher to determine which areas need the most review as we begin the year.

REVIEW HINTS:

Scholarship Algebra II is a fast paced course using the concepts learned in Algebra I. It is strongly advised that the first few chapters, which deal mostly with Algebra I concepts, be reviewed before starting the course.
Use the list of objectives for each chapter as a checklist. Select a handful of problems from each chapter (or use the Chapter Review at the end of each chapter) to be sure that you are comfortable sovling problems dealing with each objective.
Select ODD numbered problems for practice so that you can check your answers.

ASSIGNMENT #1 - 10 points

Chapter 1 - Solving Equations and Inequalities

OBJECTIVES:

Section 1-1	Use the Order of Operations to evaluate expressions Use formulas
Section 1-2	Classify real numbers Use the properties of real numbers to evaluate expressions
Section 1-3	Solve equations using the properties of equality
Section 1-4	Evaluate expressions involving absolute values Solve absolute value equations
Section 1-5	Solve inequalities
Section 1-6	Solve compound and absolute value inequalities

Chapter 2 - Linear Relations and Functions

OBJECTIVES:

Section 2-1	Analyze and graph relations Find functional values
Section 2-2	Identify linear equations and functions Write linear equations in standard form and graph them
Section 2-3	Find an use the slope of a line Graph parallel and perpendicular lines
Section 2-4	Write an equation of a line given a slope and a point on the line. Write an equation of a line parallel or perpendicular to a given line.
Section 2-6	Identify and graph step, constant, and identity functions Identify and graph absolute value and piecewise functions
Section 2-7	Graph and solve linear and absolute value inequalities
