Students will spend one quarter learning to create working and pictorial drawings using traditional drafting techniques. Once they have a firm understanding of these drafting techniques, they will advance to using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software called Key Creator which will allow then to create solid modeling drawings. For the final product, students will create a prototype with the use of the Dimension 3D printer. Students considering careers in the fields of Engineering, Construction or Manufacturing will find this course beneficial.
Construction/Home Maintenance
This course will allow the student to explore various areas of construction and home maintenance. Students will build a scaled storage building as well as a room addition in the Building Construction and Residential Construction modules. They will learn to do basic plumbing and wiring in the Residential Plumbing and Wiring modules, create landscape designs in the Landscape Design module, build a CD storage cabinet in the Cabinetry module and learn to use GPS and laser equipment in the GPS and Laser modules.
