District Families -
It is hard to believe that the 2021-22 school year is right around the corner. Here is some important back-to-school information. Look for additional emails concerning this topic and other back-to-school topics.
We welcome students back to everyday school for 100% in-person learning. School starts on August 18 for students in grades 1-12, all day and Purple Kindergarten on August 24, and Gold on August 25. An online option will not be available this school year.
We encourage students, staff, and visitors to conduct a self-assessment at home prior to coming to school or school events and if you are sick, stay at home.
We will continue to encourage good hand washing practices and will make hand sanitizer available.
The district will continue to sanitize regularly.
Mask wearing at school and COVID-19 vaccines for those eligible (students, staff, and visitors) will be optional, leaving this decision up to each family. Due to a federal CDC order for public transportation, which includes school vehicles, face coverings will still be required for all students and staff, whether vaccinated or not, while on school transportation. It is understood that ODH is strongly recommending those who are unvaccinated wear masks while in school and the CDC is recommending masks for everyone at schools. Additionally, ODH “strongly recommends vaccinations for staff and eligible students" and CDC states ”Vaccination is currently the leading public health prevention strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic.” We have always worked with families with students who have more intense health needs and will continue to do this on a case-by-case basis.
We are continuing to study guidance further concerning quarantining protocols. We will provide more information as soon as we can.
As of June 2, 2021 Ohio ended all health mandates but the district will continue to monitor the situation and if conditions or governmental guidance change, the district may make changes accordingly.

New staff includes BCI Principal and Special Education Supervisor
We welcome over 30 new staff members to the Eagle family for the 21-22 school year! Donnie Phelps has been named the principal of Bell Creek Intermediate. He previously taught English Language Arts at the high school and has previous administrative experience in Clinton Massie. Bridgett Pritchard comes to us from Dayton Public Schools where she served as an Academic Coordinator for Special Education. She is our new district Special Education Supervisor. Other new staff members will be introduced in a future district communication. We welcome all of our new staff members!
Bell Creek Intermediate traffic
There will be a shift in drop-off morning and afternoon pick-up procedures for Bell Creek Intermediate. Essentially, we will be swapping places where buses and cars drop off/pick up. We know that cars backing up in the afternoon on the road has been an issue. This will allow us to get cars off of Upper Bellbrook Rd. during pick-up/drop-off times. Thanks to Sugarcreek Township, the City of Bellbrook, and the Greene County Engineer’s Office (GCEO) for help with problem-solving. The township and GCEO provided new signage and the Township will provide digital speed limit signs that will alert drivers to his/her speed limit in front of BCI/SEC/HS. Additional information will be coming to BCI parents in the near future.
Free Meals
The USDA has extended its program for free lunches at all district schools and for breakfast at BMS & BHS for the 2021-22 school year.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work together for a successful start to the school year.
