Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools are very proud of the designation each of our schools receive, naming them as Purple Star Award winners.
Last week, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce announced that 171 Ohio schools received Purple Star designations in the class of 2024, with our own Bell Creek Intermediate being one of them. While some schools on the list are first-time recipients, Bell Creek received a renewal of the designation. Schools are considered for renewal every three years and each of the District's buildings have held the designation for quite some time.
The Purple Star Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. Schools that earn the award receive a special Purple Star recognition to display on site.
A school is honored with the Purple Star Award if it completes all the required activities, plus one optional activity. One of those is the Military Ball which will be held Thursday night for students who attend Stephen Bell or Bell Creek, and their families.
“Mrs. Danielle Taylor, Mrs. Beth Bench, and Mr. Zack Cline have done the work and secured our Purple Star renewal in being designated as a school that serves military children and their families in extraordinary ways,” Bell Creek principal Donnie Phelps said. “Purple Star is a designation that signifies our commitment to supporting the unique challenges of military kids during their formative childhood years.
“Mrs. Kelley Anderson began pursuing this accolade many years ago as her passion grew around these students and families. Congrats to our building for this continued distinction and honor, as well as special thanks to those who made it happen!"
