EagleLand 2 Completion a Dream Come True for Students and Staff
The moment all the kids were waiting for was even better than they imagined. And the adults there were a little misty eyed, too. Less than two years ago, a group of third graders noticed some of their friends couldn’t play with them on the playground at Bell Creek Intermediate. One student in a wheelchair, in particular, was relegated to just one place he could play and it was hard for him to get there through the rubber mulch.

While Camp Kern is well known to most in the area as a staple of middle school, each year sixth graders get to experience it for the first time. For those who don’t know, located near Lebanon, Ohio, Camp Kern is a YMCA-owned site that houses cabins and many different adventure activities. From learning survival skills to teamwork skills, Camp Kern is a fundamental part of the work Bellbrook Middle School does to make their building as cohesive a unit as possible.

School Board Approves Amit Gautam as Treasurer/CFO
The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Board of Education voted to accept the contract for new treasurer/CFO Amit Gautam at its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday evening.

Gautam, a local resident, has 23 years of experience in Ohio Public finances, spending the last three years as Assistant Treasurer of the Dayton City School District. He will officially take over on January 1, 2025, as long-time current treasurer Kevin Liming steps into retirement. The Board of Education passed the vote, 5-0.

Hawker, Neus and Pugh added to Hall of Fame
On Friday afternoon, three new members of the Hall of Fame were officially inducted during a ceremony with friends, family and the Bellbrook High School senior class in attendance in the BHS auditorium. 

The ceremony saw Christine Hawker (class of 1987), Lori Neus (class of 1992) and Jim Pugh (class of 1979) added to the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Education Foundation hall. With their additions, there are now 58 inductees.

Two Bellbrook High School Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Bellbrook High School seniors Oliver Alban and Connor Payne achieved high scores on the PSAT/NMSQT, putting them in the top 1% of test takers in the country, making them National Merit Semifinalists.
