School Board Member to Resign After Years of Service

The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Board of Education seeks board member applicants to fill the unexpired term of Kathy Kingston, who resigned effective 12/23/2019.
The board will begin considering candidates soon and must name a replacement within 30 days of the resignation. The newly appointed member will serve until December 31, 2021. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next general election.
Kingston, who is resigning due to her current health condition, served on the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Board of Education for over 13 years.
“Kathy fulfilled a key role regarding legislative actions that impacted our schools, advocating for the good of our students and the best interests of our community,” said David Carpenter, board vice president. “Her contributions to and enthusiasm for public education are an encouragement and example for us. She served many years as a teacher in our district and continued by serving on the board in her retirement. We thank her for her many years of service and wish for her to have a full and complete recovery.”
Those interested in serving on the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Board of Education should submit a letter of interest, complete the board member application, and send the letter and application to David Carpenter, B.S.S. Board Vice President, St. Pierre Education Center, 3757 Upper Bellbrook Rd., Bellbrook, OH 45305 or via email to [email protected] by 1/02/2020. According to Ohio law, people serving on Ohio school boards must be at least 18 years old, district residents and registered voters. Carpenter said the board will review all applications and decide on the replacement at its January 9, 2020 meeting.
